Have you ever heard of Mardi Gras? On January 25th, the fourth grade celebrated Mardi Gras in the cafeteria. Mardi Gras is a celebration from the Southeast Region of the United States. Fourth grade celebrated by making noisemakers, masks, and necklaces. They also ate Chicken and Sausage Gumbo (a popular soup in the Southeast), Banana’s Foster (vanilla ice cream, bananas, and caramel syrup), and King Cake. The colors of Mardi Gras are purple, yellow, and green, so the crafts included those colors as well. Purple means Justice, green means Faith, and yellow means Power. Fourth grade Mardi Gras was lots of fun! We appreciate all of the parents who volunteered and/or donated items for our special celebration.
