Central Manor was visited today by the “Military Officers Association of America” in coordination with their “Adopt-a-Vet” program. One month ago, the veterans visited all fifth and sixth grade classrooms. After the visit, the students began working hard on a special project that would be presented to the veterans at today’s Shine Time. One sixth grade student shared a poem entitled “The Vets.” One group sang a song, and three other groups shared projects that honored their particular veteran. At the end of our Shine Time today, the entire school stood up and gave the veterans a standing ovation. To also celebrate the day, students were encouraged to wear red, white, and blue. The “Adopt-a-Vet” program has been a bi-annual tradition at Central Manor since 2000.
